I have to say one of my friends went cold Turkey almost 5 years ago and hasn't smoked sense.  Can't say I know how he did it, but it worked for him.  Having said that, most people can't do that, or shouldn't as you say the percentage of people that actually go back on to smoking using this method is high.

Some great tips here, and all I can say is never give up.  Persistence prevails!!

It's not easy to quit smoking.
China has huge smokers, about 350 million, and each year upto 1.2 million people die from smoking.
Now some people at here also use e-cigarette to quit smoking, it's a good new, but we encountered another problem, very few people like the sweet taste e-liquid. So I think, e-liquid is another problem for quit smoking.

I went cold turkey 6 weeks ago and I smoked about 100 a day. Heres how to do it.
1. Repent of your sins
2. Ask for the Holy Spirit to help you stop smoking
3. Spend the first 3 days sleeping most of the day
4. Eat sugar free polos

thats it, 30 years a smoker no I aint smoking ever again.

use nicotine replacement maybe for first couple of days, if you use ecigarettes definately use low nicotine levels or none, I used Silk Cut silver.

Do not use NRT for long as whats the point? you just stay addicted!

I have tried most methods for quitting smoking and found it to be one of the most torturous times of my life.
cold turkey almost drove me insane and i just wanted to tear my own skin off i was that frustrated with denying myself a smoke.I would never recommend doing it that way. Too much trouble for the 3 days that i lasted and the terror i placed on my poor husband.
NRT was okay but still you have to have the will power to keep denying yourself the smoke.i also was on a higher dosage of nicotine then when I was smoking and never really dopped the patches even after nine weeks of not smoking. It still felt great when I sparked up that first fag even though it made me sick to my stomach.
The electronic cigarette has been the first thing i have tried that i dont feel like im missing out. i started on 36mg and after 6 months i am down to 10mg without even trying.I have been very impressed with the fact that even if i forget my e-cig im not climbing the walls wondering how im going to get my fix.I was so impressed with them i set up all my friends with them and decided that i had to start a business up selling them . All my friends are now trying to quit smoking with them and are so impressed they are telling others about it.

To quit Cigarette is a very tough job and it is very difficult to give up smoke.But right approach will definitely help to give up smoke.

It is not easy but I have been a tobacco lover for years. I enjoyed all types of tobacco. Once I picked up my first electric cigarette I have not been back. Well, I did go back and smoked one cigarette but the flavor was nasty compaired the the clean crisp flavors of electrics. They saved my life...

persistence prevails! I like this. Any changes especially if we get used to it is hard to break but a supporting family, partner or friends are huge help too.
